Frequently Asked Questions

  • Acupuncture is commonly used for pain and physical tension—such as back pain, neck pain, shoulder issues, tight hips, and repetitive strain from work. It is also effective for headaches, including tension headaches and migraines.

Beyond pain, many people use acupuncture for issues they may not immediately connect to treatment, such as:

    • Ongoing stress or feeling “wired but tired”

    • Poor sleep or waking throughout the night

    • Digestive issues (bloating, sluggish digestion, irregular bowel movements)

    • Jaw tension or teeth grinding (TMJ)

    • Low energy or burnout

    • Seasonal allergies or sinus congestion

    Acupuncture also helps to:

    • support women’s health at all stages, including menstruation, hormone balance, and menopause. It can help regulate cycles, reduce PMS symptoms (such as cramps, mood changes, and bloating), and ease transitions like perimenopause and menopause—supporting concerns like hot flashes, sleep disruption, and energy changes.

    • Irregular or painful periods

    • Hormonal imbalances

    • Fertility support

    • Stress-related cycle changes

Treatment focuses on supporting the body’s natural rhythms and improving overall regulation, rather than targeting just one symptom in isolation.

It works by helping the body regulate itself—improving circulation, calming the nervous system, and supporting overall balance.

  • Most people find treatments deeply relaxing and may even fall asleep during the session.

Acupuncture needles are very thin, and many people barely notice their insertion. You may feel a brief sensation—such as a light pinch—followed by warmth, heaviness, or a dull, spreading feeling around the point.

This response, known as de qi, is normal and indicates the body is responding to treatment. It is typically mild and fades quickly.

If you’re sensitive or unsure, treatment can always be adjusted to keep the experience comfortable

  • This depends on your condition and goals. Acute issues generally improve in just a few sessions, while chronic or long-standing patterns often require a series of treatments. The goal is steady improvement.

  • Your session begins with a detailed conversation to understand what is going on and to identify potential root causes. This typically includes a series of focused questions covering areas such as pain, sleep, digestion, stress levels, energy, and overall patterns in your body.

Treatment is then tailored to your specific needs. You will be positioned comfortably on a treatment table, and fine needles will be placed at selected points—referred to as a point prescription.

You will rest for 20–30 minutes. During this time, many people experience a deep sense of relaxation. Common sensations include warmth, heaviness, or a gradual release of tension. Some people fall asleep.

In some cases, people may also experience an emotional release. This is a normal response as the nervous system shifts and the body lets go of stored stress or tension.

Additional therapies such as heat (TDP lamp), fire cupping, or tuning forks may be used to support the treatment.

After the session, most people feel calmer, looser, and clearer. There is no required downtime, though taking it a bit easier afterward can help extend the benefits.

  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to areas like your arms, legs, and lower back. Athletic wear, t-shirts, and relaxed-fit pants or shorts work well.

Most treatments can be done without fully undressing. When needed, areas can be accessed by rolling up sleeves or pant legs. If more access is required, towels and sheets are used to keep you comfortably covered throughout the session.

The goal is for you to feel relaxed and at ease throughout the session, so come dressed in whatever feels comfortable and easy to move in.

  • Most people feel noticeably more relaxed, both physically and mentally. Common responses include a sense of calm, reduced tension, improved mobility, and clearer thinking.

Some people feel energized, while others feel more grounded or slightly tired—both are normal responses as your body shifts out of stress and into a more regulated state.

You may also notice changes over the next 24–48 hours, such as better sleep, reduced pain, or a general sense of ease in the body.

Occasionally, mild soreness or an emotional release can occur as the body processes and lets go of tension. These responses are typically short-lived.

There’s no required downtime, but staying hydrated and taking it a bit easier afterward can help support the effects of the treatment.

  • Acutonics® tuning forks are calibrated sound therapy tools applied to acupuncture points, muscles, or areas of tension. When activated, they produce gentle vibrations that travel through the body’s tissues, helping to relax the nervous system and support overall balance.

    They are commonly used to:

    • Promote deep relaxation and reduce stress

    • Ease muscle tension and discomfort

    • Support circulation and tissue recovery

    • Help regulate the body’s natural rhythms

    • Encourage mental clarity and a calm, settled state

Tuning forks can be used alongside acupuncture or as a standalone, non-invasive treatment. Many people find them especially helpful if they prefer a gentler, needle-free approach while still working with similar points and pathways in the body.

  • TDP lamp therapy uses far-infrared heat generated from a mineral plate to gently penetrate deep into the body’s tissues. This form of heat goes beyond surface warming, helping to improve circulation, relax muscles, and support the body’s natural healing processes.

    Common benefits include:

    • Relief from muscle and joint pain

    • Reduced stiffness and tension

    • Improved blood flow and local circulation

    • Support for injury recovery and tissue repair

    • Deep relaxation during treatments

TDP lamps are often used alongside acupuncture to enhance results, but they are equally effective as a standalone therapy for targeted areas of discomfort.

    Microneedling

Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment that uses fine needles to create controlled micro-stimulation in the skin. This process encourages natural collagen production and supports the skin’s ability to repair and renew itself.

    Benefits include:

    • Improves skin texture and smoothness

    • Softens fine lines and early signs of aging

    • Supports collagen and elastin production

    • Reduces the appearance of acne scars and mild scarring

    • Helps even out skin tone and pigmentation

    • Enhances overall skin clarity and vitality

Over time, skin appears firmer, more even, and naturally refreshed. Treatments can be done on their own or combined with other therapies to support deeper restoration.

    Acupuncture Facial Rejuvenation

Acupuncture facial rejuvenation is a natural approach to improving skin tone, texture, and overall vitality. Using fine needles placed both locally and systemically, treatment supports circulation, collagen production, and nervous system balance—working from the inside out.

Rather than isolating the face, this approach addresses underlying patterns such as stress, tension, and circulation that directly affect how the skin looks and feels.

    Benefits include:

    • Improved skin tone and natural glow

    • Increased circulation to the face

    • Softening of fine lines and tension patterns

    • Reduced puffiness and stagnation

    • Support for collagen production

    • Overall relaxation and nervous system regulation

Treatments are calm, precise, and restorative. Over time, the skin appears more refreshed, balanced, and naturally revitalized.

Often combined with complementary therapies such as facial cupping, and gua sha for enhanced results.

  • Yes, acupuncture is supported by a large and growing body of scientific research. According to Evidence Based Acupuncture, there are hundreds of systematic reviews and thousands of clinical studies examining its effects across a wide range of conditions.

Over a 27-year period, acupuncture received over 2,000 positive recommendations across more than 200 health conditions in clinical guidelines from medical organizations around the world.

Research shows particularly strong evidence for:

    • Chronic pain (back, neck, joints, headaches)

    • Osteoarthritis and mobility issues

    • Migraines and tension headaches

    • Post-surgical recovery and nausea

There is also growing evidence supporting its use for:

    • Stress and anxiety

    • Sleep issues

    • Hormonal and digestive concerns

In addition to clinical outcomes, studies show acupuncture can influence the nervous system, reduce inflammation, and affect how the body processes pain signals.

While not every condition has the same level of evidence, acupuncture is now widely recognized in modern healthcare as a valid, evidence-informed treatment option—not just an alternative therapy.
